‘The Thing That Should Not Be’ childrens pop-up book is a concept only. Not for resale.
‘The Thing That Should Not Be’ aims to educate and entertain minds of all ages – evoking imagination in the young, while spurring memories of old for the young-at-heart ‘storyteller’. Creating an illustrative pop-up book about Metallica is educational (band history and music); and inspirational as kids read, learn and enquire to a potentially new genre of music. Metallica are heavy metal stalwarts – maintaining relevancy over almost four decades, encouraging fans through dark and troubling times with rousing, fist-pumping lyrics.
The Lethal Digital team hope one day ‘The Thing That Should Not Be’ pop-up Metallica book will be treasured by devout fans – sharing with future generations while upholding the legacy and passion of the world’s greatest metal band.
Messenger of fear in sight
Dark deception kills the light
Hybrid children watch the sea
Pray for father, roaming free
Fearless wretch
Insanity
He watches
Lurking beneath the sea
Great old one
Forbidden site
He searches
Hunter of the shadows is rising
Immortal
In madness you dwell
Crawling chaos, underground
Cult has summoned, twisted sound
Out from ruins once possessed
Fallen city, living death
Fearless wretch
Insanity
He watches
Lurking beneath the sea
Timeless sleep
Has been upset
He awakens
Hunter of the shadows is rising
Immortal
In madness you dwell
Crawling chaos, underground
Cult has summoned, twisted sound
Out from ruins once possessed
Fallen city, living death
Fearless wretch
Insanity
He watches
Lurking beneath the sea
Great old one
Forbidden site
He searches
Hunter of the shadows is rising
Immortal
In madness you dwell
James Hetfield, frontman to the world’s biggest heavy metal band ‘Metallica‘, recently checked himself into rehab, cancelling the Australian and NZ legs of the band’s international WorldWired tour.
Perth- based agency Lethal Digital has spent this year creating a children’s pop-up book, inspired by H.P. Lovecraft and Metallica’s song ironically titled ‘The Thing That Should Not Be’.
Lee Rekman, Director of Lethal Digital had planned to meet with James, Lars, Kirk and Rob on Thursday 17th October, 2019 in Perth prior to their show at Optus Stadium to present the pop-up book idea, with the goal of collaborating with Metallica’s charitable foundation, ‘All Within My Hands’.
Although the original meeting didn’t eventuate as planned, several copies of the pop-up book are on their way to one of the band members. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens… stay tuned.
